Default S6 is getting a "little brother".... sort of.

http://www.avidblogs.com/live-sound-...-software-4-5/

S3L is gaining the ability to act as a EuCon studio controller.

See blog.

I've been waiting for this! With Eucon support the S3 now seems to have everything I need. Lets hope the price is right.

Hmmmm no touchscreen or jog, and no fat channel type of setup. Even with artist series with a mix and a control you can tweak one thing on the control, and another on the mix...It looks like with this you would have to flip the whole surface to control a plugin. Also mono metering and no GR meters right?

This seems cool for those who already have S3L for venue and want to use it with PT, but I'm not sure it looks like a viable D-command upgrade/replacement for strictly studio guys (plus we probably don't need the I/O on the back). I guess we have to see how they implement it when it comes out and if there will be a touchscreen/jog add on.

I agree 1000% and hope that this is just them getting the EuCon code in place, using the S3 and S6 before a "real" D Command (or should I say C24) replacement comes out.

That's when they'll get my money. And they'll get it on day 1.

That makes two of us.

What I really want is (compared to artist):

-Smallish qwerty/mouse/tablet/midi keys underneath friendly form factor
-better quality buttons/knobs/faders with meters next to faders
-two knobs per ch
-better touch screen implementation (IE plugin instantiation shows full menu tree + favorites, GR metering etc)
-Knobs for screen fat ch with custom assignments (IE comp threshold is always knob 1 etc)
-tighter software implementation with PT (fader flip to aux opens aux mini faders on screen etc)
-PTHD features, input monitoring button somewhere, mic pre control, button for trim auto mode etc.

A S3S with a jog/shuttle, touchscreen-with-knobs and some assignable keys module could tick all those boxes. I also would have no problem paying a reasonable price for eucon updates to insure they have a well funded team to develop and support the software.

Bleh.. would prefer a propper meter bride aka la C|24, d command, d control. Reason being I don't look at my faders, I look ahead. Not to mention that the more you bend your neck to look down at what you are doing the more straineous it becomes on the neck.. possible headaches, disconfort, etc.

The S6 can show metering on the display but then you need the M40 and display modules. M10 users are out of luck. Besides looking down at a control surface that close is in an odd place for my eye prescription. I'm already at bifocals and don't fancy trifocals.

A transport control section to sit next to an S3 would be neat, mostly just someting with a conventional transport controls and scrub wheel. The S6 automation module seems too much/likely too expensive. I dislike the Artist transport funky button layout. But I expect between the existing Artist Transport and S6 Automation Module there is not enough space to expect Avid to do a "mid-range" S3 compatible transport add-on. It will be interesting if Avid will sell a 3S control surface separately and at a compelling price.
