Default What about older Apogee Duet?

I already own the Apogee Duet. Is there a substantive difference between what I already have and the newer Avid-blessed version.

Thanks

Vlad

It's exactly the same. It's just that for the new ones, Avid will be doing support/drivers/firmware, etc., and they will ship with Protools software included.

One advantage there is that those ones will work on Windows computers, whereas the Apogee ones won't. On the other hand, the Apogee ones will work with IOS devices and the Avid ones won't.

So basically if you're on a Mac, everything will be pretty much the same.

There is a FAQ about these on the website that you may want to look at.

No to both questions. From the FAQ on the Avid website:

I own a Duet/Quartet from Apogee can I get a copy of Pro Tools IO Control so I can control the interface from my Artist Series controllers via EUCON?

Pro Tools IO Control software is only compatible with the black, Avid branded Pro Tools | Duet and Pro Tools | Quartet interfaces and does not work with standalone Apogee interfaces which are supported by Maestro software.

Can I download Windows drivers for my Duet/Quartet Apogee interfaces?

Only the black Avid branded interfaces from the Pro Tools | Duet and Pro Tools | Quartet solutions can utilize the windows drivers. The silver standalone interfaces from Apogee only work with Mac OSX or iOS.

And there is no upgrade available either:

I have Pro Tools 9/10 and/or an earlier Avid audio interface, and I would like to upgrade to Pro Tools | Duet/Quartet, is there upgrade pricing?

Currently there are no upgrade packages to these products from any Avid hardware or software solutions.

I was told that The i/O control software is ilok'd
I have no confirmation of this.

Pro Tools IO Control does not require iLok authorization.

Tell Apogee what you want, they will need to change there firmware and drivers.
