PCU Power/Processing Limits...
It seems that 5 or 6 RTAS Plugins are all I am able to get out of my well-equipped G4 system. Does anyone have any tips or tricks for getting more out of their system? I’ve been using auxiliary tracks to limit the number of plugins, but I’m still extremely limited… What can I add to my system that will provide more processing power???
ANY information is greatly appreciated. Thanks! |

Re: PCU Power/Processing Limits...
You need to share more about your system and specs ie, which model G4, OS, RAM, which version of Pro Tools, hard drives and which plugs are you trying to use. Plus any other specs you wish to share.

Re: PCU Power/Processing Limits...
Wow… I appreciate the quick responses.
I use the Digi001 with my Power Mac G4, dual 867 Processors, with 1.5 Gigs of memory on Mac OS 9. I also record onto a companion/firewire hard drive, not directly to the computer’s hard drive. As for plugins, I mostly utilize Realverb, Auto-Tune, Maxxbass and a few others… I think I should be able to use more plugins without encountering problems CPU power problems. When applying the plugins in mixdown, I set the buffer level to 1024 and the usage limit to either 80% or 85%. I have even allocated more of my computer’s memory to both Pro Tools and the DAE. Thanks again for the help… Matt |
