Actually was Apple idea to eliminate 32-Bit entirely.


Look all plugin manufacturers... Eventide, plugin-alliance.. they had to remove 32-Bit OSX installer to be certified approved signed by Apple.
in Eventide you must email support to get the 32-Bit installer,
plugin-alliance has a 32-Bit download page hidden in support, and some plugins are Not 32-Bit anymore, like Masterig Compressor Clas A with Red LEDs, the other with Green LEDs still has 32-Bit installer.


same with Vienna Ensemble Pro 6.0 and 6.5.


100% 64-Bit OS its an interesting idea, but Not backward compatible...


Intel developed 32-Bit x86 instructions,
AMD developed 64-Bit x64 instructions, they share licenses...

AMD does Not ask $$ to intel for using 64-Bit in their CPUs, and Intel does Not ask AMD for using 32-Bit instructions in AMD CPUs.


ARM are a different story...
because they have RISC architecture, Reduced Instructions.
Intel_AMD x86_64 have CISC architecture, Complex Instructions...
but usually ARMv7 is 32-Bit and ARMv8 is 64-Bit.


there are others like MIPS, and PowerPC architecture,

G4 was 32-Bit only,
G5 was both 32 & 64-Bit, but very few software was G5 optimized, Cinebench 2003 had G4 & G5 versions, G5 version was a bit faster vs. G4 version same CPU.



the latest Power9 IBM CPU its used in super secure workstations like Talos Raptor II running Fedora or Debian, Linux.


M1 is also 64-Bit Only,

iPad 4 Retina was the last Apple custom ARM Not ARM CPU with 32-Bit,
impossible to upgrade iOS, because iOS after that is 100% 64-Bit.


having both 32-Bit & 64-Bit makes system a bit less reliable and bloated, to be honest..
i understand the 64-Bit Only idea...
32-Bit its too limited in Memory 3.7GB
similar to FAT32 file system.. limited to 4GB files.


Android Phones with ARMv7 CPU cant more than 4GB Ram,

32GB microSD cards are designed for FAT32 file system, limited to 4GB files.
64GB microSD cards are designed for ExFAT, a 64-Bit FAT32, but different than NTFS.

That is just not right. Avid has 64-bit drivers for HDN/HDX but they chose to leave HD cards to 32-bit systems, not Apple. Just drop it, Hd cards are only up to PT10 because Avid said so

TDM had 48-Bit Mixer,
HD 56-Bit, in 32-Bit OS...


HD hardware was ahead of time,
but audio path and RTAS / TDM plugins had 24-Bit limit,


for example:
Digidesign Focusrite Forté Suite RTAS TDM plugin
are exactly like plugin-alliance bx_Focusrite SC
isa110 and isa130 emulation...


the RTAS & TDM clipped horribly IF input Gain was too high..
but inside the plugin had No Digital Clipping unless it was designed for that,
Output gain of the plugin could be much higher than Input gain..


the New AAX 64-Bit has No limits,
but sadly emulation was done using a console channel about to fail or repaired wrong...
the Digidesign Forté Suite sounds much better with same settings, IF lowering InputGain -6dB

Are you comparing the tablet version to an actual pc with Key/mouse? Odd comparison if you ask me. Do you use a touch screen with your macpro? If not then why not compare apple to apple, in the sense of use windows with a key/mouse and then see if it fits your needs compared to looking at the review of w10 on a tablet?

Yes, which is why it never got into 64bit PT11. Maybe it would just have needed too much work or maybe simply impossible, only Avid knows. Apple however has nothing to do with HD cards only being supported up to PT10
