Working with Midi Audio drive?

I was just wondering if I am only working with Vi and midi do I need to have an audio drive? I do record people, but not often. I do have an external that I have been using, but I am just wondering if I really need it due to the fact I am only working with VI's and MIDI.

It would be best practice to have one.

For this you definitely want an audio drive.

The instant you want to record the audio output of your VI's, you will want to record to an audio drive.
