My thinking goes like this. You can upgrade the memory yourself and the prices will only drop. The Processor is soldered to the board and not field replaceable. The higher clocked processor may add some resale value down the road. I would say go for the processor depending on the price differance.

I'll not need an external HD, so no firewire is needed (only a usb for the mbox micro)

For example, if I use 1 altiverb, 2 dverbs, 4 Waves SSL, 3 Smack and 10 EQIII with a limiter and a comp in the master bus, will it work with a 2.0ghz or should I get the 2.4ghz ?

Thanks again !
Digi may decline to help if you have performance problems on an unsupported model.

You have been warned..

+1 for needing a Firewire hard drive. Absolutely needed unless you are only doing MIDI stuff. Anytime you use digital audio, you should (read as "must") use a physically second hard drive.

Mmmmm... and an USB 2.0 HD isn't faster than a Firewire (the same HD) ?

USB is unsupported. It is inferior for streaming audio applications and Digi says not to use it..

Read this:

Hard drives

and this:

mac compat

The people here are not pulling your chain.

Flommer pretty much answered this already. But "yes" USB is NOT faster than Firewire. It's been proven hundreds of times here for many people.

USB = Bad for Protools
Firewire = Good for Protools

Pretty simple fact. I'm just trying to save you some headaches down the line.
