MIDI editor & grid mode
I work with midi a lot and like to move notes on and off the grid for groove when I'm programming drums. Is there a way to have the grid lines still visible while in slip mode? This way I can see how far off the grid I am moving these notes.
Thanks. |

Re: MIDI editor & grid mode
It should be visible whether you're in slip or grid mode. Where it says grid at the top of the midi editor should be highlighted, click on the word grid if it's not and you should see your grid. Hope this helps.

Re: MIDI editor & grid mode
I got another question tho.
Is there a way to automatically make all midi notes the same length when I hit a key from my midi controller? This way when I'm playing a drum kit; all the hits are the same length instead short and long notes, which isn't useful for me when programming drums. This would make everything nice and neat for me, visually. Of course, when I'm playing actual instruments, I would need to turn it off. Does this option exist? |

Re: MIDI editor & grid mode
If you use real time properties "duration / set" and set it to 16ths or 32nds you should be able to do this, but on my system for some reason it's really erratic, only seems to go down to 1/4 notes {no good for drums}, so I normally just select all the notes and use "Event / Event Operations / Duration" to set length of all notes when I'm ready to edit a drum take.

Re: MIDI editor & grid mode
Just figured it out! Set the real time properties for the track to 32nd note then in the little box with the number to the left of it you set that to 1. Nice to learn.

Re: MIDI editor & grid mode
So that means it will ONLY apply to that specific midi track? Or will it be applied to all MIDI tracks in your session?

Re: MIDI editor & grid mode
I think only to that track unless you have it set as the track default in Realtime properties in the event menu, in which case it will apply to all new midi tracks.
