Default Used MBOX 2, Transfer registration?

I just got my MBOX 2 Factory.

It came with PT LE 6.8.1

I haven't installed it yet because I don't have a second HDD and unfortunately, I ran out of money.

I also picked up my Fantom X6 and it supports USB MIDI, so that's good.

My question is, the person who had it (MBOX) registered it, so do I have to re-register it in order to install it on my Mac G4?

If so, how do I got about transferring the registration?

Also he gave me a CD with 7.X (I'm not sure which it is) but it's for PC, he said PT 7 came out right after he got the MBOX so they gave him a free upgrade to PT LE 7.

Would I still be able to get this upgrade to PT LE 7 and not have to pay anything extra for it?

Help me out please?

Go ahead. Pro Tools installs on your System HD. The separate HD is to record your sessions to.

Provided it's compatible and you've got an authorization code from the previous owner, you should be able to install and run the Mbox before re-registering.

The previous owner should have sent a transfer document with the hardware which you complete and forward to Digi.

You need to get hold of a Mac installer for whatever version it is. If the previous owner registered the software, ask him to download this from his My Digi account and send it to you.

Thanks man.

I will do that, you are a great help.

I had M-Powered before and I have some PTF filesand I found out that PT won't open PTF files because PTF files aren't backwards compatible.

He gave me the CD for PT7 like I said before, on the back of it it has a series of numbers preceded by the letters DiGio is this the authorization code?

Again thanks for your help

I can't speak for PTMP but I've never had problems opening PT sessions created on earlier versions. What you can't do is get say, PT6 to open sessions created in PT7.

Yeah, that sounds like it. It should look something like this,

DIGI07nn nnnnnnnn nnnlnnnl

Where n=number and l=letter.

Yes, that's what it looks like.

Thanks and the, that's what I was saying.

I will have PT LE 6 and I have PTF files created in PTMP 7.4 so I know I won't be able to open those up unless I upgrade to LE7.

Do I have to transfer registration in order to upgrade to LE7 and would it cost me anything to do so?

Digitech?

Ok

I downloaded the Transfer registration form. I am going to print it and fill it out. I gotta contact the guy who sold it to me so I can get him to fill it out also, so I can fax it to Digidesign to make the transfer complete.

I registered the iLok he gave me to my account and I have the box the MBOX came in and it has the serial number on it and everything so i have the info.

Thanks for your help

No. registration is not a pre-requisite for installing the software and using the hardware. As you already have a PT7 code, provided you can get hold of the installer, no further expense should be involved.

Well I installed Pro Tools and uprgraded it to PT LE7

I tried to start the program and the icon bounced but nothing happened.

I am using OS X 10.4.11 (I know it's not tested for PT but I have heard of some people being able to get it to work)

If I downgrade my OS, I won't be able to sync my iPod Touch.

What should I do?

I looked around and found out I might have to try running the Prebinding Script, but the links on Digi's site are dead.

Is there a way to get this script?

It sucks when things get so dog gone complicated
