Default Need a Windows Audio Interface for Windows PC

I'm currently using a focusrite saffire pro 40 and having so many problems
When i open projects and hit play it freezes and have to restart a few times i know for a fact that is a driver issue with the saffire pro. I have tried everything to get it working properly the problem happens randomly but im ready to move on and get a different Interface. Any suggestions?

Make sure Windows is NOT using the Saffire as the default audio device.

From my reading, RME seems to have the absolute best drivers.

The drivers seem to have clocking problems and lock up in PT

Yes to RME. I have the UFX and indeed the drivers are rock solid. RME write their own USB drivers and support their hardware for years and years. USB 2.0, with RME's drivers, is more than capable for the UFX's I/O and as good as or slightly better that FW400 (yes I tried both, I moved up from an 002 Rack, with an approved SIIG firewire card).

That said, I did have a crackling issue at first, but solved it. See this thread.

Everything is stable and fine with PT now (W10 Pro AU, PT 12.7.1) although I don't stress PT anywhere near what most do.

The UFX is a real, pro piece of kit. You can even record to an approved USB stick without using a computer, or as a back up. Mic pres are absolutely usable, FX, at a minimum, is good for monitor mix and the converters are clean and pristine, some would say sterile, but they will allow tracks to stack up in a mix and with no color, you can process the audio anyway you want.

TotalMix, the software mixer, is a steep learning curve, but very effective.

RME is not cheap, but definitely worth it.

I just upgraded from an MBox Pro to an Fireface UFX and I love it! Took a bit to get used to TotalMix but once you get familiar you can set it up to do just about anything you need.

Running 12.3 beautifully in Windows 7 Pro
