Why is there no suggestion box for Pro Tools software in general?
My suggestion is get a lyric track in pro tools immediately so songwriters can marry their words to the music better. This word porcessing track would also be useful for the composer's todo list. I have been jumping back and forth between MS Word and then I had some pro tools problems that appeared to be from a corrupted file. The comments box for each track is not working for me. It is too hard to get to and too small for any songwriter's needs. Any lyric track would need good kerning ability to size the words to the note durations. What say ye? |

May i ask what kind of problems did surface from your corrupted files? I had a freak attack of error-9073 on a brand new G5 Imac 1.9G 512 Ram MBox1 PT 7le and Lacie drive after i imported files from a CD burned on a buggy/virusy HP/PC. can a corrupted file wreak havoc on your audio engine? any ideas. la |

What's wrong with some pen and paper?
Your vocalist should really know the lyrics before recording anyway. It just doesn't sound convincing reading them. |

I also do the "marker trick". I don't remember what program it was, but they wrote it into the software through MIDI. There are some MIDI files that save lyrics, to do a karaoke-type thing. The lyrics are saved on the timeline according to the timecode (MIDI timecode). That'd be kind of cool to have, with a little window like a TelePrompTer.

Okay, this is a no-brainer...
Everyone has movie making software on their PCs/MACs and there are lots of low cost alternatives for fancier software... Think... Movie Lyrics... Stretch them on the 'timeline' to the lenght you want... Colors for 'moods' or bold 'emphasis' 'vibrate' trills... etc. Most video software will let you enter 'Titles'... And even play tricks with the words. Bounce to quicktime and whallah! Lyric track. |
