003+ Rack Firewire Link Not Working
My 003 Rack+ is not being recognized by my Mac Pro or by PTLE 8 - I'm getting the "unable to recognize hardware" alert when I open up PTLE. The 003 Rack+ unit is not appearing in System Profiler either. Here's the story:
I bought the 003 Rack+ unit on Ebay. The unit was used and did not come with software - this wasn't an issue since I upgraded my copy of PTLE 7.1 to 8.0.4. The unit arrived in excellent shape, was packed securely and the seller had a 100% positive feedback rating. I received the 003 Rack+ unit, plugged it into my computer and immediately got the "unable to recognize hardware" message. I tried the other firewire port on the unit to no avail. I then searched the DUC for users who had similar issues with the 003 Rack+. I found a few fixes; this is what I've tried so far: -Using a new Firewire 400-to-800 cable -Trying both front and rear firewire ports on the Mac Pro -Daisy-chaining through an external HD -Powering on the Digi 003 prior to the Mac Pro -Running the Digi 003 through a PCIe firewire card As for the unit itself, the 1394 Host light is always lit on the front. However, I've never seen the link indicator on the back light up. I don't know if this is normal, but all of the lights on the right side of the front panel are constantly on and can't be turned off. This includes: -Aux In 7/8 (green) -3/4 - HP2 (green) -Aux in (green) -Alt CR (green) -Mono (orange) -Mute (red) All of the status indicators remain constantly lit as well. This includes the host, sync and midi indicator lights. My Mbox 2 Mini works perfectly with my Mac Pro, no problems whatsoever. My final step before contacting the support desk is to plug the unit into a computer running Logic at my friend's studio. Has anyone seen these problems with their own unit? if so, how did you fix it? Any advice is appreciated. |
