My apologies if I seemed snarky.... Just very frustrating that this system well north of 10K in total assembled price, has these errors.

For the LIFE OF ME, I don't understand what "beta testing" is all about when glaring problems like these are uncovered by users. Yes, I know in a way we're all "testers", but really... this isn't some arcane, rarely used function that doesn't work on odd number days, with month's with "R" in their name, AND a full moon... this one seems pretty obvious to me.... and why problems like this never seem to surface during beta is beyond me.

This is still giving me a lot of trouble with PT 11.2.1 HD. How are you dealing with this? are you working with PT10? Any workarounds?
Very often my video freezes, my transport control stops working. If I turn off video then ProTools 11 HD works fine. But I do post, so I need video!. I am transcoding every video to Avid codec with no audio.
Any suggestions?

I still get this too. In fact, I'm posting this while waiting for Mac to reboot, which is only work around.

Mac Pro 2009, OS 10.8.5, Mjpeg, blackmagic intensity, pro tools 11.2 HDX.

I have not seen this too much. I think when I did a normal speed bounce one time and I restarted my mac and it went away. That was with 11.1.2 if I remember correctly.

I am running 11.2.1 with no issues. I pretty much do Offline Bounces to QT with H.264 and have had no issues. Sometimes with regular QT Bounces I did.

Hello,

Just started getting this error today.
Running Pro Tools HD 11.2.1 on MacBook Pro. Mac OS 10.9.5.
No external video hardware or audio hardware.

Only seems to happen to me when changing the video track. I've been working in the project for the last 4 hours without any problem at all and have been doing some re-conforming of the project. Made video window fullscreen, changed which video track was online and received the error "Waiting for video operation to complete". After this window completes, I try to playback but my transport is paused (Solid Stop / Flashing Play).

Also receiving the error "The Video Engine is unable to create thumbnails for the video track"

Video codecs used are Apple AVC Intra-100M (mxf) and Avid DNxHD (mov). The DNxHD codec seems to be the one with issues creating thumbnails.

As with others, rebooting Pro Tools seems to solve the problem.

Regards,

Peter.

i am having the same problems on my laptop (MBP 2.6ghz Intel i7, 16gb Ram, OSX10.9.4)

Just updated to 11.2.2 in the hope it would improve, but its actually got worse!

not connected to any video hardware - just trying to run a h264 30sec video. I need to do audio post on tv commercial but this is becoming unworkable.

And as i cannot get PT11 to even run on my new Mac Pro, perhaps time to consider a different DAW solution.

I would try first converting the h.264 to something else.

I have that issue here at work every once in a while, when using ProRes based files. I run the file through a compressor droplet, which basically re-does the header information and the video runs fine. I cannot explain WHY it works, but it does. The process usually takes less than a minute, but I also work on things that are generally 5 minutes long or less.

It is kind of silly that this is still happening, but that is a workable solution to an annoying problem.

after having constant problems with H264 video, this afternoon i tried exporting the source video and audio from Smoke 2015 using its built in AAF Export option, which creates an Avid AV DNxHD 36 1080p formatted video file alongside the audio tracks, and its working perfectly.

I'm running a brand new Mac Pro 2013 with PT 11.2.2 and a quicktime-wrapped DNx36 and I'm still frequently getting this error. How has this not been fixed in a year's time?

The video engine in PT11 is still chock-full of problems... maybe they shouldn't have been so eager to replace it when going from 10 to 11.

How sad to hear lots of people have this same problem with or without a Blackmagic card. Just upgraded to 11.3 & can work one day fine and the next day; today I get constant error messages. This downtime is killing me & have yo go back to PT to get anything done.

I really hope AVID can get a fix on this.
