Distressor - yeah!! This after UAD said some years back they wouldn't do one because in their words "we don't see the need for yet another 1176 style compressor". I need a new interface and it ha to be either USB2 or FW800 and this could well push me towards a silver Apollo.

I've never used the hardware, so if you ever have time it would be nice to hear your impressions of the various plugins and how they compare to the original.

With all the big discounts on UAD hardware are these guys going to start selling their plugs for native use and drop hardware?

I would be very surprised. It's possible they have a new hardware platform they are rolling out, and that would explain the discounts, but I'm only guessing. It's a valid criticism of the UAD platform that the hardware is under powered, and as their plugins have gotten more sophisticated the number of instances of the newer ones is very limited. So they could be unveiling a more powerful system - again I'm only guessing.

I really don't see things as discounts but getting a free standalone or pcie card dsp setup to go with an Apollo. Maybe UAD just wants to dump the pcie card and standalone accelerator boxes and just focus on the interface market? And they're clearing out stock for that?

Although this is not the first time UAD has done one of these kinds of promos - buy an interface and get a free pcie or standalone piece.
