I think the catch will be, not so much if it works, but how well it does. There is literally no testing going on for any developer on AMD architecture. This could be fine, this could be a problem. 100% of everything is now Intel based since Mac left IBM. It will be interesting to see if AMD can get back to competing like they were up till around 2006 or so.

I am also curious about heat. AMD's used to run so miserably hot and had such a high power consumption, it was crazy. You had to have a vortex of air running to keep them cool even without overclocking.

Yeah, I had the same experience with my AMD builds. I had heard rumours Ryzens also ran hot, but read today that it appears they do not. There is an issue with the 1700x and 1800x registering 20 degress celcius above actual temp in some software, but that's a matter of an offset not being correct. The Ryzen's don't seem to be running as hot as the old Athlon or Phenoms did.

How much was your CPU?
I paid 329 for my Ryzen 1700 non-overclocked 3.0Ghz processor. The 10 core Intel processor lists for $1600.00, if that puts it into perspective.

I should have my computer by next week. I'd like to see where it stands along side already known great working PT systems.

Wow am I eating my words.....

I must be confusing this bench mark with passmark (geekbench).

Ryzen looks like it's a Bad Motor Skooter.

Thanks for that. But I just want to get it and start working with it. That's the only way I'll know for sure how good it is/will be.
