Default Recording off S6L/E6 with AVB and OS-X Sierra

Tried recording from my S6L to PT12.7 on a early 2015 Macbook Pro Retina using a genuine Apple thunderbolt to giga-ethernet pigtail.

When you go to OS-X Utilities and then the midi page, no AVB devices show up. Tried several suggestions from the web with no luck. Re-loaded OS-X El Captain and BAM, no problems. It seems Sierra is qualified for PT12.7 but the AVB connection to the S6L did not work.

S6L running v5.3.2.5

Anyone else seeing this? Is there a good workaround?

thanks,

Steve

1. Where do you connect MacBook? One of four ports on the Console, right?
2. Does Mac report Ethernet connection being online? Does Mac get 192.254.*.* IP?
3. Are you able to connect PT's VenueLink?
4. Did you try a different port on Console?

I connected it exactly where it is suppose to go. If you read my post everything works fine using El Captain. It seems to be an issue with Sierra, not the console or my connections.

It seems I always to need to set up manual IP in the laptop for it to show up in audio/midi's network devices.

It is known that Sierra did break some AVB functionalities and my understanding is that it is going to be qualified soon. That said, not being able to discover the AVB entity of the E6L in the Audio Network discovery page shouldn't be

Yes, Sierra broke a lot of AVB functionality, or the better way to put it would be, Sierra CHANGED a lot of the way it functions.

Pro Tools is qualified with it, as they generally don't use AVB for primary audio.
S6L team is working on some changes to get it working cleanly without audio artifacts.

I really wish you guys would put a win 10 driver out so you could assign the streams in win 10. Pro tools runs sooo much better bootcamped to Win 10.

Is there a release date for the fix?

Can't quote a date yet, but also a point of note, I've found that the elk in USBC- Ethernet adaptor is not AVB capable. Workaround is USBC-TB2 AND TB2-Ethernet. Yes, its stupid.

I am using Sierra and recording just fine with my S3L over AVB. I find sometimes it needs a restart in order to find the AVB stream, it also helps to turn off WiFi. Running 10.12.2 on a mid-2015 retina.
I´ve never needed more than one reboot after turning off WiFi.

This may or may not help you but I had a similar issue with Sierra with our S3, turns out AVB didn't like the network switch. When I connected direct (S3 to Thunderbolt port) it picked it up straight away.
