Default Old 6.9.2/MBox question

I was reminiscing recently about using the original MBox and 6.9.2 on a PC about 8 or so years ago. I used to notice that at the end of any recorded waveform, there was a little split second of noise. Anyone else ever notice that? What was that? I haven't encountered it ever since upgrading years ago.
