Default Top 3 Video Cards

I'm in the market for a new video card. I've read all your guys' posts and am still not sure. I don't want to fork out the money for a Parhelia but I do want a good one. I know Phil got the ATI 9000 pro, a lot of you also have the matrox. I am running an XP Pro, P4 2.53 GHz, dual monitors with an 002. What do you guys think??

I used to use an ATI radian VE, which worked fine, but it was incompatable with my video editcard - I now have a Matrox g550 which I highly recommend.

The "big 3" are probably Matrox, Geforce and ATI Radeons. Of the three, the ATI's have probably the best overall compatability. I had a Matrox G550, which I liked a great deal on the A7V266-E and A7V333 mobos (VIA chipsets), but it's incompatable with my new A7N8X (NVidia2 chipset) mobo, so I switched over to the ATI Radeon 9000 Pro 128 MB dual head card, and I've been very happy with that card too.

The Matrox G550 is the best for 2D. But some motherboards won't work with it so the ATI cards work perfect in this situation.

Not all video card have 2D acceleration like the Geforce MX series. They do basic 2D and good consumer 3D. Make sure you do your homeowrk before you buy.

I'm using a GeForce 4 ti4200 which I love. Great for dinking off when I'm not working (games) and I believe it has duel monitor support(One analog and on digital out) with the help of nVidia's nView driver. Great card for the price. Around $140 or so and will go down much further once the GeForceFX card is out in the next few weeks or so.
