Default So what's the chances of another Expansion pack in the future

I'm new here so I'm just wondering if this is a one and done type deal with EXRP or if we can expect more updates and additional stuff in the future.

And I am starting to dig this thing more everyday.

I think the 11R has proven to be a hit for Avid so I expect there will be more modifications in future.

Of course this is only speculation on my part though.

99.9% chance IMHO.

But as mentioned, just speculation, take it for what it is. Only Avid knows if they are willing to invest more money to make the current 11R even better.

I sure hope in a few years when they release the second version of the 11R, they will release a Standard version and a Pro version capable of dual rigs, multiple cabs-mics, many more amp, some new features, more I/O ect...

What would really kick booty, would be if they could get some amp models Licensed by the real amp makers like Amplitube and TH2 ect.... have. Like Diezel, Rivera, ect...But its not that important, as long as the models sound and feel good, I dont really care, its just a good marketing technique.

Amen to that!
The 11R is a great box, and I'm all for more ERXPs, but I'm afraid that the hardware is in real need of an upgrade too because it seems like the only way to address some of its limitations...
I have my fingers crossed for this year rather than in a "few"!

11R Ultra anyone?

I suspect the current hardware still have a bit of DSP to spare, I'd expect at least wah auto-engage and custom IRs plus a few more FX, dirtboxes and amp models in the next ERXP. Maybe even the new low latency and expert modes

That's what I'm hoping for...I'd like to get a few more expansion packs outta the 11R before they decide to go with new hardware...hopefully in 3 or 4 more years!

I wonder if the mbox line is any indication of how often Avid will release new hardware. It seems like there was a new mbox version introduced every 2 years or so. Now I realize that comparing the mbox to the 11R is apples to oranges (get it, ORANGES ) but if they feel like the 11R is a success, I hope they don't feel the need to release new hardware every 2 years and try and squeeze everything they can out of the 11R! But with the way technology is constantly improving exponentially, it WILL be cool to see the next 11R....11R Ultra...or whatever they call it.

The good thing is that they will have the 11R as a solid design basis to improve upon from!

Good days are ahead us I think!

Generally the other digi interfaces like the 00x and Mbox series are usually upgraded every 3-4 years. I wouldn't expect any less for the 11R.

And FYI, in another thread, Chris Townsend stated that there was plenty of room and processing power to add more expansion packs in the existing 11R.

i would like at least on more expansion pack, then after that, some sort of hardware revision with the expansion packs features built-in. I don't mind paying for the expansion packs. All in all i spent much more on tubes and maintenance on real deal amps.

Also, if they make a new hardware unit available, I hope they offer a trade in, like the 00x's.

That's great, and I too am hoping there's still lots more to come in upgrades. I personally went down the 11R instead of more expensive solutions not because of the money, but because of the superior interface. It really is easy to navigate the 11R (again compared to the competition).

But the downside is that it is also limiting somewhat, regardless of DSP power.
Is there a way we can have parallel processing in the 11R?
If there's loads of DSP power left, why are we still waiting for spillovers or the ability to chain more than one of any effect types (Delays or distortions for examples)?
We all wanted a parametric EQ and got a great one, but no way to assign it as a global setting for all rigs to easily fine tune the 11R to a venue.
I'm just brushing the surface here to illustrate, but I'm guessing a lot of what is possible is down to the current hardware, not just the software/firmware.

Don't get me wrong here, I love my 11R and I also love when companies upgrade the software making a great product even better instead of pushing for the senseless renewal of hardware.
But what I really want is a solution to my problems and requirements.
If that needs a new hardware revision, so be it...
