How to: PC audio into X32 and then recorded into pro tools 12.5

Hi,

I have a Behringer X32 and pro tools 12.5 running on a Windows 10 machine.

I want to play sound from my PC (for example a video from youtube), route this audio into the X32, process it (e.g. compression) and then record the processed audio into Pro Tools 12.5.

Currently, I have set Windows to use the X32 as the default playback device for PC audio. This allows me to route the PC audio into X32 channels 1 and 2 (which are set to card, not local playback). So I can hear the PC audio in the monitors connected to the X32 and I can process it.

However, I can't work out how to record the PC audio from the X32 into pro tools. I have created an audio track in pro tools with X32 channel 1 as the input but when I record enable this track, I can't get the PC audio to record in pro tools.

Any ideas?

On the X32 you can record the playback on a USB thumb drive.....then import it into PT.

Also having windows use the interface as the default playback is not recommended......
