Default Digi 002R horrible noise with Wavedriver 6.1

I'm seting up a studio with a new Digi002R. I installed PT 6.1 and Wavedriver 6.1 that came in the cd. The recording session that I did (just vocals and guitar) for testing PT and the whole system was perfect. I made a bounce to disk and burned a cd with Nero but when I checked the cd with Windows MediaPlayer, behind the music was an horrible noise and the firewire led indicator in the front panel of the Digi002R started to blink. I tested the cd in a hifi system and it is fine. So the problem is not on the cd and is not in PT then it should be in the Wavedriver. I decided to uninstall it and then reinstall, again the same noise. Should I upgrade to PT6.1.1 and Wave driver 6.1.1?

What about the firmware?? when I launch PT it ask me to download an updated firmware for the Digi002R, since I don't have an internet connection in that PC I allways skip that message. Is it necessary to do that firmware update? could that be the source of the problem with the Wavedriver??

Ed.

Hey!! I'm asking for help here please don't let me down!!!.

Seriously I have to figure out this problem with the noise I'm talking about. I'm afraid it could end being a defective Digi002R.

Thanks

I dont think your HW is defective.I get the same distortion when I try to run Media Player through the Wavedriver.I've seen similiar threads about this.

Definately upgrade to version 6.1.1 of ProTools, Wavedriver, and ASIO. They have been a very stable release for me with no issues so far.

If you just purchased your 002R you should be eligible for a free upgrade to 6.1.1 if it did not come with it. Contact Digidesign and see if this is the case. If you have registered it, they will have it on record and will send you a 6.1.1. CD.

First, install 6.1.1 in the order as the Digi download site states, then if you get the firmware message, click yes this time.
