Default Lynx Aurora 16

Hey all,

So I am planning to upgrade my recording setup. I'm currently using a Focusrite Saffire interface, but I am going to get a Lynx Aurora 16 converter (thunderbolt) with standalone preamps, probably starting with the Midas XL48 8-channel pre.

Anyone have any issues using a Lynx Converter with windows?

Am I correct in thinking that the two items listed above will work to interface with PT 12 (non-HD) on a windows OS?

I know I'll also need a Thunderbolt card for my machine - does such a card exist for a windows PC? I am having trouble finding one.

Thanks.

As far as I know, there isn't a universal Thunderbolt add on card for PCs. Some of the motherboard manufacturers, like ASUS offer an add on card for their specific boards, but like I said, these will not work in just any PC.

Ah, yeah that's what I'm finding. Looks like I may need a new motherboard to make it work, which stinks!

If you're not wedded to Lynx and/or Thunderbolt, have a look at RME. Rock solid drivers and very low latency.

If you are in Austin you ought To go to Fry's and speak with those guys about that Asus TB card they have....they will be able to give you more info about what MB it works with

I was just out there last week, and the card was only $69

I know it's not an answer to your question, but which Focusrite interface do you have?

The XL48 has AD built in and would probably go right into your interface as it is.

I have a foxusrite saffire 26. Yes, it would go to my interface as is, but I'm looking to get a high end converter like the Lynx, and dedicated pres. I'll be bypassing the AD converter on the Midas.

Awasome! I just ordered the asus x99 deluxe II. It comes with the Asus TB Ex 3 card.

When I get my Aurora, I will pick up the Startech TB3-->TB2 converter - I confirmed with Lynx that the adapter does work just fine on their forums.

Thanks for the response!
