Default OT- DFH or BDF drums for pop/rock (not metal)

I have spent the whole day researching both BDF from fxpansion and Drumkit from Hell SUPERIOR

I am looking for something that sounds good, especially the cymbals (they both seem to do this)
but the majority of my material is more on the pop/light rock side (music on website). I feel that Drumkit From Hell Superior might sound a tad better, but geared more towards the heavier music.

What stinks is neither have a demo!

Any thoughts before I dive in and purchase one?

Thanks,
Keith

I've heard that DFH sounds more metal so I would suggest BFD

Just like to chime in here...

Is BFD much of a CPU hog?

Chiming out now...

Scott.

Keith, I agree with Scott; great tunes.

I can't give you a direct recommendation about either DFHS or BFD, but I wanted to at least share my experience with DFH. I thought the same thing about the original DFH; too metal. After using them, though, I changed my mind. It's all about how you apply them, and there are lots of different kits and rooms.

The demo song on my webpage called "Your Love" was done with DFH. It's not mixed or mastered (or finished) yet, but you'll get the idea.

BFD seems to have lots of great features, and I wouldn't mind trying it myself, just don't discount DFHS for those metal sounding samples.

Thanks Scott/spkguitar for taking the time to listen to my tunes...glad you liked them

spkguitar:
I see what you are saying about DFH (by the way, that song of yours reminds me of a friends band, www.theshags.com (I also did their website!) You guys have a similar voice when singing...

Still a tough decision on what to purchase!

I just purchased BFD and I think it is amazing.

I did a fresh install on my Athlon64 3400+/1GB RAM. I have 4 hard drvies in the machine. One for system, one for apps, one for audio, one for samples. I can load BFD in a ProTools session with a full kit and it takes 650MB ram. Processor hit is minimal....maybe 10%. Keep in mind that is with no plugins. It has been rock solid for me and the possibilities are endless.

I also think that the DFH line is for heavier music. I do Country/Pop Rock and stuff like that.....dont need double kick drums, etc. I do own the first iteration of DFH and the sounds are great - but it's the interface of BFD that wins me over.

Also, they are getting ready to release an expansion pack to BFD that has some killer sounds in it....(well it LOOKS like it has....cant hear em yet).
