Default "Pro Tools is unable to communicate with HUI"

Hi

I've just got started with Pro Tools 11 and I'm trying to hook up my Akai MPK Mini to a session but I keep getting the "Pro Tools is unable to communicate with HUI" error every time I try and use it.

I've tried setting it up through the MIDI Studio and Peripherals settings but I'm still getting no luck, the same error occurs when I try and use MIDI from my Yamaha digital piano through my Saffire LE interface. Both work fine in all my other programs.

Any ideas?

Hi Luke,
I have a Behringer BCF2000 controller. The computer is HP 64bit win8.1
This controller works well with Vegas and Sound Forge ( this means that the drivers are properly installed and the system recognizes pretty good). When I select on PT ( Configuration> PERIPHERAL > Controllers)
HUI > BFC2000 - (emulated), then.... same as you: A popup window saying that PT can not communicate with HUI.
If you have any solution , I'd appreciate your help.

These threads are a joke. Never get any answers. I posted one a month ago and got not a single response. Spent hundreds on software that I can't even use.

Your other question was about cloud storage with Pro Tools First. It’s a little surprising you are spending hundreds of dollars using Pro Tools First. Frankly I don’t know how anybody could miss all the problems people experience with Avid cloud storage and how they could possibly decide to risk using that. DUC has many of those reports, and you surely have looked around carefully before posting here. But using First was your choice, not clear why you are whining at other users here. If you want to reach Avid support you can open a support ticket. Avid support is findable with a web search.

No idea why you are posting on this old thread from 2014 about HUI. Edit: Oops Pro Tools First does support HUI.. it does not support EUCON.

From what I find on youtube, the Akai Mini does not use HUI at all, so I don't know why you would try to enable HUI. Some people are just not cut out to be engineers. That doesn't take anything away from anybody's musical talent. The key is to recognize your strengths, and to recognize where your weaknesses are, so you can either learn and overcome, or delegate to others when you need to

Well if you bothered to check your post you would see that there are replies.

Dave - this is a thread from 2014 I expect the OP no longer cares.

Not sure why hugolamb7 is complaining on this thread. Or if it has anything to do with HUI or anything else here.

Oh yeah, I saw. And I also expect that kind of response from someone with little to no experience with PT. We users need to be smarter than the gear we buy
