Default Hardware Settings in M-Audio Control Panel and in Pro Tools

I used to use Pro Tools LE, and I was used to changing the setting right in Pro Tools for 128, 256, 512, 1024. But now those controls are in PT M-powered as well as the M-Audio control panel for my 410. Do I need to change both of these at the same time, or can the M-Audio control panel stay at 128 while Pro Tools is changed?
