That's what caused this thread, in the first place. It suddenly stopped doing what it's supposed to do.

understood, but not unless that pref was unchecked .. it will only do what you tell it !!! did you toss prefs at some point for troubleshooting and forget to check it again ?? were you dragging and dropping and then went back to dropping in Clip List ?? there is something that changed .. i have not seen pro tools (using since version 3 or 4) do this without some operator help !!!

i do hear all the time of people that do not make sure they have all the files in the audio files folder as they import .. important check - as we all grab things from other drives that walk away with a client or friend .. and then we find PT saying missing files ..

just trying to help a little .. but we have to not reply so much on the automatic side of things .. especially with Prefs that Get Tossed away to troubleshoot .. i wish that was not the case with PT but it is .. i have been burned by it .. now i hardly change any prefs at all ..

as i mentioned, i try and place the new files i want to use directly into my audio files folder to begin with and ADD them .. or make sure when i am dragging in that my settings are intact .. does not take too much time, but i know we are all pushed for deadlines these days ..

that little extra - take a breath can help !!!

cheers john
