Pro Tools 9 HD PCI compatibility?
Hey guys.
My studio is looking into upgrading their Pro Tools system. They are currently running HD 7.3 with PCI cards on a G5. Ive been searching the Avid website, but cant find a straight answer. I know with the use of a Power Mac and an expansion chassis, we can run HD8 with the old PCI cards. But, can we do the same with an upgrade to HD9, or is that PCIe only? Many thanks. |

Re: Pro Tools 9 HD PCI compatibility?
Short answer...
You can use the older Pro Tools HD PCIx cards with a Magma PE6R4 and a Mac Pro with Pro Tools HD 9. See the following, linked from the Pro Tools Compatibility link at the top of the forum, and you'll find the details: Pro Tools HD 9.0 System Requirements > Pro Tools HD 9.0 Qualified Apple Computers > Pro Tools HD 9.0 Qualified Expansion Chassis for Mac OS X You can't run Pro Tools 9 on a PowerPC-based Mac (like a G5 or any other Power Mac).
