Pro Tools 9 does not show clipping on recording
Is it me or if you record enable a track and as you monitor it does not show the red clip indicator.
I know the inputs clipped because if I record and playback the clips are then lit up. But I need it more on recording, no use finding out later on when its too late. Is it a setting or a PT9 Bug |

Could be that you dont have pre-fader monitoring set up in preferences. Hope it helps dude.

Re: Pro Tools 9 does not show clipping on recording
Do you have the soft limit turned on, which the new mbox pro has on the front of the interface? That limits the input signal so there is no clipping. Turn it off and you will see red clipping next time you record over 0 db.

Re: Pro Tools 9 does not show clipping on recording
The soft limit does not stop clipping it only assists a little.
If you monitor with the Mbox control panel you can see the inputs clip. In protools the recording is clipped, it will actually on playback cause the clip light to light up, but not on recording/monitoring It must be a ProTools 9 bug/mbox 3 driver bug as I have tested with my macbook microphone and its fine. Funny, Avids own hardware does not work with protools properly. lol! |

Re: Pro Tools 9 does not show clipping on recording
Has anyone else got an Mbox 3 (it is secific to the 3 I would have though due to the drivers and interaction between it and PT 9)
Can anyone else observe the behaviour I am talking about. - I have already tested my inbuilt sound and its fine on the macbook microphone - this does indeed register a clip. And yes it is clipping, the recorded file does indeed register that it has clipped. And how do you report this bug to Avid? |

Re: Pro Tools 9 does not show clipping on recording
Has nobody bought an Mbox 3 with Protools at all?
Crazy so I am the only one? Avid must be doing bad with the mbox sales |

Re: Pro Tools 9 does not show clipping on recording
Can you post a picture of the waveform?
Just because you are clipping the input does not mean you are clipping on the recording.

"I know the inputs clipped because if I record and playback the clips are then lit up." In other words they are definitley clipped. I've checked the waveform and they are clipped.n The tips of the waves a flush agains the top with the peaks cut. Plus why would Pro tools clip on playback of the waveforms? This must be an issue with the Mbox 3 + Protools 9 but I cant find anyone with the same setup yet. |
