From PT9 perpetual to PT Studio perpetual
Dear forum users,
does this product: https://plugindiscounts.com/product/...etual-license/ work to upgrade my old PT9 to PT Studio perpetual? Did anyone buy this and did it work? Is it the same product as "Protools Studio Upgrade to current updates + support plan" reinstatement? The new licensing model makes my head spin, I just want to make sure to not buy a wrong license I canīt use. Of course I asked the vendor, he couldnīt say as PT9 is very old and said to better contact Avid about it, which I tried, but it was only possible to talk to a funny chatbot that didnīt know anything. Thanks in advance! Last edited by el-folie; 06-19-2023 at 11:44 AM. |

Re: From PT9 perpetual to PT Studio perpetual
I'm not sure with the naming that site is using..
This is what you need (from Sweetwater) https://www.sweetwater.com/store/det...ort-for-1-year "Please note, only users who own Pro Tools v9 or later are eligible for reinstatement." Joel

Re: From PT9 perpetual to PT Studio perpetual
Exactly, the naming was different from other vendors.
Some call it "Upgrade" or "UPG", some "Reinstatement", some "Get Current", some refer to eligible legacy versions starting from PT9, some donīt. Itīs just not consistent and thatīs what made me ask, mainly because the price is very good as an upgrade fee for my vintage version. Maybe someone used that license already and could give some input. |

Re: From PT9 perpetual to PT Studio perpetual
Does that company have any support to contact which you could ask?
For the sake of saving $20, I'd buy from an Avid vendor: https://www.avid.com/find-a-reseller Joel

Re: From PT9 perpetual to PT Studio perpetual
Yes, I did and the support contact didnīt know as PT9 is very old...
The good news is, though, that it indeed worked. After a lot of reading on different vendor sites I finally understood there are only 2 reinstatement product licenses, one for Studio, one for Ultimate, so it just had to be the correct license product, as only they can update from very old PT9 versions as per the Avid info online. After registering the license code in my AVID account and submitting the PT9 ilok license for the upgrade, I now can see the perpetual PT10/11/12 and PT Studio licenses as a "locked group" on my ilok. OMG - a whole new DAW worls is waiting now, I guess Iīll need to take a good read and then dive in. |

Re: From PT9 perpetual to PT Studio perpetual
I hope you guys don’t bother to get into more detail?
Would this reinstatement upgrade work from Pro Tool 9 M-Powered too? Information I could find about this is contradiction or unprecise. Any evidence would be very appreciated! Avid: https://avid.secure.force.com/pkb/ar...ent&popup=true |

Re: From PT9 perpetual to PT Studio perpetual
I believe it will work for M-Powered as well, although I don't see it specifically mentioned.
You could try contacting Online Store Support here for verification: https://www.avid.com/pro-tools/learn...ontact-support Joel
