Default 002r problems??

Hi all.
I've been with my 001 for about two years now, and we've had a great relationship.
Basically no problems at all ever. (Except for the whining, whirring, screaming sound the 001 makes. Seriously. I've learned to just put up with it, but it sounds a lot like some of the G5 problems people have.)

I've been planning on an 002r "upgrade" so as to keep with the future. BUT...

As I've read 002r posts, it seems that lots of people have all kinds of problems with it. Wiring harness being one. I guess i'm just wondering if the 002r is going to get more stable, or if it's really already stable, and it's just a few people having problems.

What kind of warranty does the 002r have? I've certainly never needed my warranty for my 001, but honestly I'm a bit worried about the 002r. Is it going to still be working perfectly after the warranty is up? How about 5 years from now??

Let me say again: my 001 has been ROCK SOLID in OS9 for me. If the G5 would work with the 001, I probably wouldn't even consider moving to the 002r. But I know my processing will need to grow, so...

Thanks for the help, everyone...

Well I've had mine for less than 6 weeks and it's a mess. Crashes & freezes. Done everything recommended, right updates, re-installed EVERYTHING including the OS (Panther). It's particularly bad at loop record, but lots of other weirdness too. Thank god the studio it's in is not really a client based studio - I'd be broke now.

I too had an 001 since day one and no probs whatsoever on both Win 98, then XP as well as OS9 MAC.

So I'm terribly disappointed to have an unstable system. Don't know what I can do either that's the bugger of it...

Simon,

Just to clarify:
It sounds like your problems may be OS related, not harware related.
Have you tried running your 002r under Jaguar instead of Panther?
What are your system specs? What type of computer are you running?

Sorry--just trying to help and to also get accurate about hardware related problems with the 002r.

Thanks...
