Re: 256 channel Pro Tools configuration
160 Channels of I/O is the Max and you'd need 5 cards and 10 192's
What would you need 256 outputs for? Rail

Re: 256 channel Pro Tools configuration
By the way, I need 256 outputs in MADI only, due to direct connection with mixing console

Re: 256 channel Pro Tools configuration
You're going to have to run 2 systems locked together and use 3rd party MADI I/O. I suggest you contact Digi and speak with a product specialist in your area who can assist you with a system of this size and complexity.
Why not run separate systems for FX, MUSIC and DIALOG ? Each editor can have their own system. Rail

Re: 256 channel Pro Tools configuration
You simply can't do it, as Rail says. Currrently with Pro Tools you can run a maximum of 192 tracks and 160 I/O. Is this for sound editor track playback or as a stem recorder or is it hoped to do both? All the stages I know (in the UK, which is where I am) that need that sort of capacity have multiple Pro Tools rigs chasing the theatre for track playback and further Pro Tools rigs as stem recorders.

Re: 256 channel Pro Tools configuration
Thanks for the answers, unfortunately in my region such information is not to be found easely, even from Digi distributors. May be You can advise about using 2 or more ProTools stations for playback and recording - in my mind the problem with synchronization can appear. Do You now such examples of installations?
