Default De-essing With Digi????

Hey guys, I know that there is a simple De-essing plug in, but I would like to try and experiment with using a Compressor, with an EQ in the side chain finding a more precise offending frequency.

In protools how would I go about setting that up?
(as far as where to put the EQ plug, and where to put the Comp plug. I know how to use the side chain, I just dont know where to put the plug-ins to do this most affectively)

thanks
fuzz

I'm going to assume you're using PT 5.1.

Assign a second output dest. for your audio track (by holding down Control key as you re-open the trk's Output Selector), choose any unused bus (or bus pair, if the track is stereo, of course). Create an Aux In (mono/stereo, as appropriate) setting it's input to that same bus, & insert an EQ on that Aux In. Adjust the Aux's EQ to pass only the freq. band you want to use as the key for the other track's compressor plug-in (using Solo buttons, etc. as necessary) - if you're using Digi's 4-band then use on of the two middle peak/notch filters. Then assign the output of this Aux In to yet another bus (or bus pair). Open the compressor on your audio track, & select that bus pair as the Key Input for the compressor (& also enable the Ext. Key button, of course!).
If you need to make further adjust. to the bandpass on the Aux used as key input, you don't have to re-assign its output; just use the compressor's Key Listen button.
