Default General Questions about Mbox PRO

I recently purchased an MBOX pro for little money, I was A/B ing against a pod HD pro interface and proffered the clarity of the converters on the pod. I actually wonder if this down to the headphone amp as I use Sennheiser HD 650's?

The pod features a 600ohm headphone socket, where as the Mbox is much lower (I think).. So I'm not sure if it's the Mbox of the headphones??

Also for re-amping, I need to send a dry signal over S/pdif but the Mbox want's to be slaved for some reason? The Pod has no option to be set up as master. So I'm wondering what to do?

Try setting the Mbox to be slaved via Spidf. I think it will work anyway. I got to try out a regular Mbox, which had the same requirement. I hooked up a DVD player via digital (just to use as a CD player). It has no clock controls, but it worked just fine.

Not sure about the headphone issue. When I tried the regular Mbox's headphone jack, it was the best I'd ever heard.

Well it's either..

An impedance mismatch
A setting in the routing manager
Or the converters aren't very good

Unfortunately, you're SOL. Neither the Pod nor the Mbox Pro will accept S/PDIF input without being slaved. If neither can act as master, it can't be made to work.

Couple of things.
-Would never use headphone listening to evaluate anything other than the headphones
-The converters on the are better than the HD Pro, you are probably hearing the effect of other factors you are adding.
-mBoxes mirror the stereo output so no set up is needed to to the master other than matching the attributes of the 2 devices (bit and sample rate).
-If the mBox wants to be slaved it's because was told digital

Ok I think headphones are fine BTW, but I have some event Opals.. It still doesn't sound fantastic.. It certainly is trounced by my Apogee Symphony. But that's not really a fair test now is it?

I don't get point 4?
