Default Zebra2 and Sylenth

As I continue to upgrade my arsenal, I'm wanting to add some highly programmable sound creation tools and have been looking at Lennar Digital's Sylenth1 and U-He's Zebra2. They both sound great and are about the same cost...about $200 US. Anyone have experience with either? Thoughts? Most of what I do is creating pop, electronic or EDM type stuff. I could get both...but would like some input from anyone with experience with either.

Thanks!

Default Re: Zebra2 and Sylenth

i had sylenth years ago on Pro tools 8.0. I liked it as it was an easier interface than Zebra2 and zebralite. I didnt use it much as when i upgraded to Pro tools 10, i dumped it and other old plugins i didnt use so everything ran better and faster.

I dont use either one for my dance tracks, though i still have Zebra2 in my plugins folder. I would say that Sylenth is probably used more often than Zebra, but thats just my opinion.

My go to synths are Nexus2, Vanguard, Hybrid, Imposcar2, and Massive.

Same here and add to that list tone2/ElectraX, PhalanX, SynthMaster2, and a few hot etxternal synths. Sylenth1 can't be ised in PT11 without all kinds of hassle if you have Mac and as you have windows Donald I would demo Sylenth1. We would use it if it was atleast 64bit VST for Mac but sadly it isn't so bye bye Favvo synth and welcome new stuff

You can demo Sylenth1 and see what you think. If you end up buying it I have like 2500-3000 awesome presets new and sweet for dance/pop/edm etc and you can buy sounds for sylenth1 everywhere on the net as users of sylenth1 compete in making the "illest" sounds for sale or free so lots of nice sounds for it.

Regarding Zebra and their synths they don't sound nearly as good and we have a few of them and never used in a released production ever so ..

Best Regards
Christopher

PS. Can't wait for Vanguard 2 coming VERY VERY SOON and free for all registered 1 users Swwwwwweeeeet!

I'm running Sylenth1 through Blue Cat's Patch Work on Windows 7 (PT 11.1.2). Works ok for me. Although I can't have to many instrument tracks with Patch Work / Sylenth1 on befor it starts hogging the CPU. 4-5 tracks works ok.

But Nexus2 is easy on the cpu, PT11 compatible and covers every genre Sylenth1 can do and more. Both sound great.

How would Sylenth or Nexus compare with, say, Vacuum Pro or Hybrid? Or Alchemy for that matter? Those I have. Would Sy or Nex really add anything or a capability I don't already have. Also I have Reason 7, with Thor, Malstrom etc. As I listen to the demos on the web pages, I don't hear anything I can't re-create on one of those I already have. Thoughts?

Are the sound banks for Nexus2 qualitatively better than what I have or can get with Alchemy? Also, I have my Yamaha Motif XS8 for which I have massive sound banks. The sounds I hear from Nexus and what I have in Alchemy or the Motif don't sound all that different to my ears. I'm thinking it might be good to take my foot off the G.A.S....Gear Acquisition Syndrome!

No, why? I love using Reason with PT via Rewire.
