About the digital processing, some plugins work at high SR regardless the session SR, like the Massenburg eq that works always at 96khz.
44.1 is 22.05 that's already outside the hearing range of a human.

I remember when Dave (Forgot his last name) the lead engineer of AAX and hdx had already talked about the hybrid aspect that was already set in the AAX format, especially for time domain based plugins. 3rd party company just never used it.

Sure. But imperfections in converter design and analog stage makes top end of poor hardware sound much worse than great hardware. That is where even going from 44.1 to 48 helps

My suggestion is lower level than plugin development, and really has nothing to do with AAX-DSP's hybrid processing. What I am suggesting applies directly to the mix engine itself, and really just builds on what Pro Tools and most other DAWs already do with its dynamic allocation and dual native sample buffers.

You should really engage them on Social Media

This is a user forum, we are all end users here.

Avid doesn’t really frequent these places much

Just a hunch.. maybe Avid needs a version of PT that works with the box first? So once we have a 2020.x that may support it, then the hardware release might be close.
