need experienced mac users advice on mac purchase
hey, i have an mbox factory and i have put together an emac purchase which will be emacg4 1.4ghz proc 1gig ram i am completely in the dark on mac processors i know athlon which is what i used before but i have an ipod and like the ilife software so i want a mac. my question is from your opinions and use of mac computers will this run pro tools smoothly on pc i was doing 15-20 audio tracks with maybe 10 plugins a song i never used reverb i use outboard for them. mostly eqs and compressors limiters etc.....thanks for the opinions btw i have 1000.00 to work with so powermacs are out.

I think for the size of sessions you are talking about the eMac would be more than adequate.

Yeah, I agree--that should be a pretty good setup for what you are doing. The eMac is underrated by most, it's really a great machine and a good value. You can look for refurbished ones at apple.com as well, if you haven't already bought it. That will save you some money. The only other option for you might be to get an external Firewire hard drive to run the audio on. That would be helpful, but not completely necessary.
Once you go Mac you'll never go back! |
