Virus might be affecting PT 8 LE.

I recently had a "windows recovery" virus. I got rid of it, but since then pro tools only gets as far as "setting up midi" and then freezes. I run it on a Sony laptop with an eleven rack.
How many licenses does pro tools 8 LE have? Can I uninstall and install again? I don't use PT to record, just to make edits etc to the eleven rack.

As long as you have the authorization code handy, you can reinstall all you want. After that kind of attack, I would try a reinstall at least. If that doesn't work, you may need to start over with a fresh install of the OS. That's why I have backup drive images of every system drive for every computer I own(6 of them right now). Acronis True Image Home 11 is the best $40 you may ever spend.
