Default Would you buy a Control 24 today?

I have been offered a Control 24 for a good price.

It has recently had the power supply rebuilt and all of the common service mods performed on it. It even has had the armrest pad reconditioned.

I know it will only work with 10HD or earlier but other that opening it and looking around I haven't even used 11 and may not bother upgrading to 12 at all.

It's old technology but I assume the preamps are on par with the Focusrite preamps being used on the Scarlet and Sapphire interfaces...

Would you buy one today?

I would not. I would choose not to be limited to a 32bit version of Pro Tools.

I can't see me moving from my TDM rig for a long while yet it's to stable and powerful. If people like slate jump on the AAX DSP wagon then I'd consider jumping to HDX but not at the moment and yes if the price was right I'd buy a control 24 :)

While it is a nice control surface, besides the fact that it sticks you at 10(11 is a huge step forward for me, YMMV), the preamps are on par NOT with the current Focusrite, but more like the old Platinum series as found in Mbox Gen 1. My other gripe with it(AND the newer C[24) is that the transport is on the right. For me, my right hand is generally on the mouse, so I prefer transport on my left. Given all this, a pair of Artist Mixes and a transport would make more sense
