001/002 comparison?

Sorry to be asking this question again but I didn't quite get the response I was hoping for. I am aware that the bundle that comes with the 002 is a good value but I tend to prefer using outboard gear when recording. Consequently, I still would like to hear from someone who is very familiar with both the 001 and the 002. I want to know how the sound quality differs between the two units (ie. mic pre-amps, converters, etc...). Hope to hear an educated analysis of this topic soon...

Both products are absolutely great values for a home and project studio. The Digi001 was a HUGE hit at the AES show it was debuted back in NYC (3) years ago? Anyway... it was the first product that made multi-trak recording possible in the ProTools environment that was affordable. It still is an incredible product and isn't going away anytime soon (that I know of anyway). The Digi002 isn't just a control surface built-in, it is a step up over the Digi001 with a little better converters. The great thing is if you just can't swing a Digi002 r5ight away, you can always buy a nice control surface later. And just like the Digi002, you have an ADAT lightpipe I/O for connecting pro-level converters later if you wish. If you can swing the digi002, get it... it will blow you away.
