Scrub wheel recommendations?
I just upgraded from an AudioMedia III system to a Digi002, and the only thing I miss is the scrub wheel on my old Cooper CS 10/2 control surface. Any suggestions for a suitable scrub wheel replacement? I do a lot of editing that demands that I find the exact beginning or end of sound...and for doing that, a good scrub wheel can't be beat.

Re: Scrub wheel recommendations?
Take a look at the Contour Shuttle Pro. I have been using this for a while. Works like a charm.

Re: Scrub wheel recommendations?
I gotta second Michael on the Shuttle PRO. I've had mine for almost two years now and definitely recommend it. You'll wonder how you ever worked without it.

Re: Scrub wheel recommendations?
how do you guys have your buttons programed for use in PT le? cut, copy, paste?
mix/edit window? is there a button template specifically for PT le? I have been thinking of buying a shuttle pro for a long time. |

Re: Scrub wheel recommendations?
The unit comes with an extensive set of presets for doing just about anything the Mac can do with specific software packages. Specifically, there are 2 dynomite presets for Pro Tools. I generally use the presets rather than setting up my own.

Re: Scrub wheel recommendations?
Can you Contour users give an idea of how the presets work under PT LE?
Thanks, |

Re: Scrub wheel recommendations?
Thanks for the input. The Contour Shuttle Pro is the device I'm looking at right now, but does allow you to actually scrub the sound with the center wheel or only with the outer rim? I bought one last week, but I'm not sure I've got it set up correctly.

Yes it does. The outer wheel has incremental speed scrub...Forward and Reverse. The inner wheel allows a much finer scrub. Not sure how to describe it. But it does what you are looking for. |

I have mine setup like this: position of the cursor with the jog, scrub with the shuttle, edit modes (snap, grid, shuffle and slip) on bottom four buttons, transport controls on the top for buttons (rewind, record, play/stop and fast forward,) increase/decrease nudge value on two buttons and three different zoom levels on the remaining 3 buttons. But again, you can set it up differently to suit your working style. The thing is just the balls! Al. |
