Default PT 9 sluggish

I have a major problem whereby on there is a slow reaction time ie, the program keeps hesitating every for bars or so and each mouse clicks reaction time is very slow including a very slow redraw
Im running PT9 /12 gigs of ram/windows 7 64 bit/intel 950 processor
