So, what's new in PT12=value for money??

Not trying to be sarcastic, just want to know. I own a big facility with at least 6 HD rigs, and I don't see any real value for money in the upgrade. Can anyone elaborate?

One of the few new things in 12 are I/O and AFL/PFL improvements for HD users. We've returned to pre PT8 behavior thankfully.

For example, prior to 12, in order to use AFL/PFL, you had to use a second set of outputs and have a monitor controller (like an ICON) to handle the switching for you. This is now done in the app with no need for extra outputs. My studio is already set up for the old way since I wired it that way on purpose, but now, I could repurpose those outputs for other things.

Also, the app can now upmix and downmix for you. So you can work natively in a surround session on a laptop for example and hear everything.

You can also extract the I/O setup from a session file now, which might be useful in a 6 rig facility as sessions move around.

App Manager is also a nice improvement, giving you a direct link to Avid's downloads for the app and driver as well plugins.

These are small but possibly useful improvements depending on your workflow.

Thanks for the replies. The info here is pretty much what I suspected. Very little value for money. Rolling the I/O back to version 8 way of doing it, seems more like a paid downgrade. I can understand the up mix/downmix features are cool for post, but as music is my main source of income, I'll pass on 12 or now.
