Default \"Link Edit To Timeline\" setting question

I have very basic question concerning the "Link Edit to Timeline" setting.

As it stands now, I am not doing something right with this setting. I periodically would like to click the edit cursor at for example, bar 31, hit the spacebar to begin playback, and hit stop at some point further down. Say bar 48.
I would like to hit stop and NOT have the play position jump back to that original bar 31 point. I want to hit stop, hit the spacebar again, and playback begins from where I last stopped, NOT jumping back to the bar 31 position.

I know that it is doing this now with "Link Edit To Timeline" ticked, as would be normal behaviour. However, if I untick "Link Edit to Timeline", I still am getting the same behaviour! I must be missing something.

Can anyone offer any tip for me to be able to "resume" playback from the last stop point, and NOT where the edit cursor is?

Hope this makes sense!

Thanks in advance for any tips,
WS

Default Re: \"Link Edit To Timeline\" setting question

I figured out the setting I needed. In case it helps anyone else, here is the settings change:

Go to Setups/Preferences/Operation tab.

Tick the "Timeline Insertion Follows Playback" box.
