Here is my killer XP HD3 PC setup:

ASUS P5K WS LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Kentsfield 2.4GHz LGA 775 Quad-Core Processor Model BX80562Q6600 - Retail

CORSAIR 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model TWIN2X4096-6400C5 - Retail

XFX PVT84JUDD3 GeForce 8600GT XXX 256MB 128-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 SLI Supported Video Card - Retail

Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 ST3320613AS 320GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - OEM

LITE-ON 20X DVD±R DVD Burner Black IDE Model DH-20A4P-04 - OEM
ZALMAN CNPS9700 LED 110mm 2 Ball CPU Cooler - Retail

Antec 4U22EPS550-2 4U Rackmount Server Case - Retail

It's a great computer overall. Fast & Cheap. Running a lean XP Pro SP3. Just this one PT snag is hanging me up. Is there a way to disable the "x" portion of the first PCI slot? I have an HD3 Accell PCI-X Rig so I need (or course) all three slots.

Maybe when Liquid Ghost swapped video cards, the system re-allocated the new video card IRQ to something open this time?

UPDATE:
I went deep into the IRQ situation. There are many things that have overlapping IRQ's in this system. I began disabling various devices that were'nt used or super important. floppy. extra usb ports, serial. It seems to help a bit but not a total solution.

I still see many overlapping IRQ's with the Digi DSP chips. But I read online that "In Windows XP, Device Manager may list some or all the devices on your ACPI motherboard as using the same IRQ" but its designed to.

As a precaution, I re-organized my cards inversely with the core card moved from the pci-x slot to to the last pci slot.

I never had a irq conflict with my video card sharing a one with the digi cards but when I switched to the ati all the looping went away go figure!I didn't do anything else to the computer.Overall the systen runs better with that card why I don't know but I think the NVIDIA drivers were conflicting!

this won´t work...

try HD2 on both pci-slots, this is the only option cause the pci-x slot can´t be configured to work correctly with HD cards.

for HD3 i recommend Gigabyte GA-EP35-DS3 (or DS3L) or Asrock P43D1600Twins (or -1394 including firewire). rock solid boards.

Nothing changed IRQ at all. The video irq was never near or shared the digi cards.

Listen to this.

The bug appears before I press stop. It sounds like a buffer that is being "emptied" to me.
It appears randomly in different sessions, and disappears if I shutdown the computer, and start it up again.

There is no shared IRQ between the DIGI card and the others.

However the card is not on the lowest slot. Should I move it?

My problem is this EXACT thing!

I've disabled tons of things in device manager and re-arranged my 3 HD PCI cards so that the core card is on the end and the 3rd card is in the PCI-X slot. I'm going to try one last thing and remove the 3rd HD card in the PCI-X slot and see if the problem persists. After that, I'm out of ideas. Its only with my RTAS plugs i do notice. not with the TDM plugs.

If this works, I may try and put some paper or plastic to cover the extra contacts on the end of the PCI-X card slot to force it to act like as if a standard PCI card was installed.

Liquid Ghost

it seems that most of the mainboards with pcix slots, have corrupted pcix-slots or the pro tools cards are not compatible.

only a few boards seem to work (p5wdg)

which board do you exactly have? P5K WS only has 1 PCIX, P5W doesn´t exist.

BUT, HD2 should work in both PCI slots. HD3 maybe with 2 PCI slots and 1 PCI-X, but i don´t think so.

PLEASE DON´T DO THIS!

PCI-X Slots are NOT COMPATIBLE with Pci-Cards!!! damage may occur!
