One more try... I/O settings for DM 4800 mixing
I just got a DM-4800, added a IF-FW/DM mkII interface card & brand new to Pro Tools 10. That's a lot to handle in 1 week.
I'm old school, so what I'm trying to do is set it up as I would an analog recording system. Meaning, I want to be able to have control buss any DM channel to any track on PT. Then, say I have 15 tracks recorded. I want trks 1 - 15 to come back into the DM4800 channels 25 - 40 ect. I have tried everything & it's not working. I checked & the interface is talking to PT. I've got the transport working, but I can't arm a track, or see the time code on my mixer. Anyone have an idea what the I/O settings should be? A screen shot would help. Thanks They need an icon of someone pulling their hair out, because that's what I'm doing!!! |

Re: One more try... I/O settings for DM 4800 mixing
Well like I said before I don't have the 4800 anymore so I can't give specifics, but you have to set up the I/O routing on the 4800 for it to work properly. There are so many ways you can set it up, so you really need to understand how the routing works to set it up for your needs. The timecode issue us a bear as well, but you need to setup the Peripherals and MIDI in PT properly to get it to work. I literally spent days trying different configurations to get a workable setup. Wish I could remember more about it, but there are some settings on the 4800 under Automation you have to set up with the clocking to get the timecode to work. I think you want to generate MTC from Pro Tools that you set up in Peripherals, and then you have to enable MTC on the transport. Wish I could offer more - I know how frustrating it can be. It is nice though when you finally get it to work!
