Playing iTunes through 002R
Hi-
Trivial issue, a pain to sort out. I'd like to be able to play iTunes through my 002R. Nice for when you're soldering, or cleaning up, or whatever in the studio that doesn't involve recording. Not much to ask, really. Whenever I do it, though (selecting the 002R in the Preferences/Sound menu), it plays fine for about 10 minutes, then starts speeding up, skipping, etc. From what I've read, there's a Quicktime 7 issue? If that's the case, then I'm screwed, 'cause I installed it and I can't seem to go back in time. I'm running 10.4.10 (no problems with PT) on G4 powerbook. Any help would really be appreciated.

Re: Playing iTunes through 002R
You could try the 10.4.10 combo update from the Apple site which was released to address QT related software conflicts.

Re: Playing iTunes through 002R
Which version of Quicktime do you have installed? Which version of Pro Tools?
Have you tried trashing preferences yet? That could solve the issue as well. |

Re: Playing iTunes through 002R
I run my Mac's sound output into the Alt inputs on the back of the 002 (Stereo 1/8" to 2 RCAs). Then pressing the "Alt Src to Mon" button on the front of the 002 routes the audio through, whether Pro Tools is open or not.

Re: Playing iTunes through 002R
Well, I trashed prefs for iTunes, no joy there. iTunes plays fine through internal speakers.
I'll try the combo install tonight. I'm trying to use the 002R as a simple audio interface - i.e., using the Firewire out as you would in any other situation. Part of my effort to use as few cables as possible, but using the headphone outs is a good workaround for the moment. I just can't get my head around why the conflict using the 002R as a D/A. Am I correct in thinking that Quicktime handles the audio for anything external to the Mac?
