Why does it take so long for wave form to be usable? [solved]

Mac Pro 2009 2.26. OS 10.9.5. 32gb ram. Pro Tools 11

Once I stop recording it can take 5-15 seconds for the wave form to appear solid. It shows as gray, but depending on how long the track is it can take up to 10-15 seconds for the wave form to darken and be playable.

Anyone else experience this?

Hi, Sounds like you may have elastic audio enabled on the tracks.

You are correct! So, somehow elastic audio is engaging with each new track I create. I see how to disable it on each track, but is there a global setting somewhere to stop it from being put on new tracks?

I have looked everywhere and can not seem to find any setting.

Preferences - Processing - Elastic Audio - Enable Elastic Audio on New Tracks - unchecked ?
