Protools Playback starts and then stops immediately

I was working on a session that was working fine and all of a sudden it stopped playing back. The playback button lights and then the stop button lights up immediately. Someone suggested it was waiting for sync but the sync button is not lit. I've looked through all the menu's and cannot figure out what it is. I imagine I must have hit a quick key or something. I even tried bringing the tracks into another session but nothing works. It's not a CPU error or anything because even if I make all but one track inactive it still happens. Please help I'm very frustrated.

You don't list your system specs so it's hard to help.

However, there was an issue like this with earlier version of PT7.x. Have you done the steps in the "General Troubleshooting" thread already? That should take care of it.

The same thing happens with my setup ( PT 7.3.1 with DIGI 002 R). I push "play" space bar, and it stops immediately after it starts. I had NEVER have this problem with earlier versions of PT, that's why yersterday I switched back to PT 7.1.1. The problem went away ! It's PT 7.3 software that's causing the problem !

I haven't had that issue since v7.1, PTLE 7.3.1 is working like a champ for me, no problems. With 7.1, a quick visit to the Playback Engine dialog and toggling any setting in there brought things back to life again.

This is a buffer error with the added confusion that Pro Tools doesn't tell you. Adjusting the H/W buffer will resolve the problem. I haven't seen this since 7.1 and i've never had it on an intel mac only on the old PPC.
