Yet somehow Adobe, who has similar issues with plugins and video, was able to do it for Premiere. I think it comes down to Adobe probably has more and better programmers here in the US vs. a handful of people in Ukraine.

Adobe has WAY more money to throw at s/w development than Avid ever will have.

I thought maybe the Avid Catalina announcement would come with the Mac Pro release but it seems not.

I was wondering that myself. I have a couple of clients that want to pull the trigger before the end of the year. (You know, in order to get that tax write off)
So is Avid going to break their habit of supporting new OSX releases 8-10 months late. Or are we just going to have to wait till summer 2020 to use these new monster MacPro's?

Given the issues regular users were having with Mail, etc. Avid may be also waiting for a more stable release of Catalina. thoughts to those who have to buy new Macs that won't work without Catalina.
