Anyone having luck with the Waves CLA76
I'm curious how people are dealing with the Analog hiss that is present in Analog mode. I can barley hear it in my Monitors but when I put on my headphones, wow. Hearing doctor told me I have super hearing.
Back in the day Pros, how were you able to get rid if the hiss? Was that where Dolby came in? For now I turn off the Analog mode. Thanks all. 📀

Save as a preset. Set this preset to be the User Default. Set plugin to use User Default instead of Factory Default. Never have to hear hiss again. This is the firs thing I do with all new plugs once I've level matched them. |

Re: Anyone having luck with the Waves CLA76
If one of my 1176's was that noisy I'd recap it...

+1 How does that level of noise speak for the device sampled... or it's the programmer not knowing to keep the gain equal after separating the software paths of noise and signal. Reminds me chip based SS gear adding a tube to call it tube gear.

Re: Anyone having luck with the Waves CLA76
Noise has a place in production. It's a good way to hide edits - sometimes a crossfade just doesn't sound natural, and sometimes quiet passages need a little extra something. I like being able to dial in a bit of hiss, wow, flutter, and "amp" noise in plug-ins. As long as it can be turned off, too.
Of course, gain staging can really ruin this. To each his/her own, though. |

Re: Anyone having luck with the Waves CLA76
Being everything is pretty much Digital without noise. Why would you include it? Not saying you shouldn't. I love my Saturation plugs but I thought it was about removing noise?

Re: Anyone having luck with the Waves CLA76
A natural listening environment includes ambient noise. Earbuds lack this, so adding just a little (on some material) can bring in a bit of the real world to the playback.
Of course this is not the only reason one might want a touch if good ol' analog noise, but push it to far and... yikes. I find myself turning it off on 90% on the plug-ins that offer it.
