Default thinking about getting this CPU, for PT9

I was wondering if this PC would work with PT9 and what are some of your opinions about it?

Thanks in advanced!!!

Hard for me to say(maybe someone else has that processor already running). In any case, you still need at least 1 more hard drive(WD Caviar Black is a good choice) for recording, and possibly a compatible firewire card(depending on if you need a firewire connection).

I think this would be a better choice:

http://imsproav.com/main/RAINCOSL2D01.html

This is a configuration that has actually been tested with PT9, and Rain Recording will support PT9 after the sale. I think it would be a nightmare to try to get support from Circuit City or Gateway for an advanced digital audio application.

We are also an AVID dealer and have performed many installations of PT9 on RAIN Recording computers.

I would go with an i7 9xx/x58 mobo build as seen in the i7 builds sticky and save yourself the headaches. If youre weary about putting it together yourself find someone local who does it for a living, preferably in a small shop where you can talk with them one on one.

And definitely stay away from off the shelf PCs.

I hate rain. I recommend a custom build if you are on a tight budget. Also there are better modified versions of windows available, that seems to be a selling point for rain. You can build a nice rig for 800 though. I'm building a $1200 rig with 16gb of ram and 3TB of storage all included in that price and a 1GB Radeon 5770.

that rain computer has a core i3 CPU that i would call office word processor worthy, not a workstation CPU by any stretch of the imagination.

nah the i3 has about the same processing power of the lower end Core 2 Quad Intel chips and they run PT pretty well. However $1,199 for an i3 is ludicrous.
